Makkari Village's annual Hoku Hoku Festival celebrates regional produce and marks the start of the harvest. Local businesses come together to offer a number of prizes that can be won in contests, games and raffles.

Local produce is cooked up fresh at a number of food stalls and one of the day's biggest events is a potato dig activity which gives you a chance to try your hand at digging up fresh potatoes to take home with you.
