2016 Niseko Classic Photos and Results
Photos and results from a challenging but successful 2016 Boardman Niseko Classic.
Congratulations to all the participants, volunteers and supporters who played a part in Sunday's Boardman Niseko Classic! In spite of some very challenging conditions for all involved, the event – Asia's first ever UCI Gran Fondo – will go down as a very special moment for Niseko's dedicated cycling community.
In the men's 140 km race, Kiwama Matsuda from team Ride Factory took the honours, crossing less than a second ahead of his nearest rival, Takaya Hoshino. A strong showing from Team Niseko saw three riders finish inside the top 50, including Ken Shimizu (27th), Ryan McKay (36th) and Jesse Ripper (43rd). All three finished top 10 in their respective age groups.
Kazumi Yuneda finished the Women's 70 km race in 2 hours and 13 minutes to take the win – just over 12 seconds ahead of fellow Hokkaido cyclist Shoko Fujimura. A solid race from Izumi Miyama saw her cross the line has Team Niseko's first female finisher.

The Niseko Classic may now be over, but there is still plenty to come in the Niseko cycling calendar. Nature Ride Niseko will take place on Sunday, Jul 17, followed the Hanazono Hill Climb on Sunday, August 7. Both wonderful community events, and we encourage everyone to get involved!
