ELLE Magazine Comes To Niseko With Three-Time Olympic Champion Saori Yoshida
It's not every day you get to meet an Olympic champion, but that's just what we did this past April!
Saori Yoshida is a name that almost any Japanese person would recognise. The Japanese Olympic wrestler has won three gold medals at the Olympics, four Asian Games and over a dozen world championships. She has the strongest record in freestyle wrestling history. So it's no wonder that her nickname as the 'world's strongest woman' has stuck in the Japanese media and on Japanese TV.
She makes appearances on talk shows and in commercials regularly. Her latest promotion with ELLE Magazine Japan brought her to our neck of the woods. While promoting SK-II she went on a cycling and snowshoeing tour with Rhythm before she hopped into a raft with us and NAC. Their news article (Japanese only) is here, if you want to check out a few photos from her time here.
Check out ELLE Japan's video below, volume 2 of their ELLE LOVES WILD series.
It was a pretty cool day cruising down the Shiribetsu River with Yoshida-san. She was cracking up jokes the whole time and still managed to paddle harder than anyone on our group. We tried to push her out of the raft at one point, but to no avail—she really does live up to her moniker!
Thank you again for coming and making some memories in Niseko Yoshida-san! Come back again soon!
