Mt. Asahidake stands at 2,291 metre making it Hokkaido's highest mountain. Located near the city of Asahikawa, it is a popular year-round destination for mountain lovers. Just like many mountains in Hokkaido, Asahidake is also an active volcano. The last magma activity was about 3,000 years ago, but yes, it is still active.
