Golden Week is a week in May which contains several public holidays, including the Emperor's Birthday. With most workers having an average of 10 days annual leave, Golden Week is one of the most anticipated holiday season in Japan. Many locals will use this week to go on longer vacations away from home.
In Niseko, there are a number of activities and special deals happening between 29th April to 6th May 2018. Here is what to look forward to.
Grand Hirafu and Niseko Village Gondola
Grand Hirafu will also be operating a final season special for spring skiing. The Gondola will be open throughout Golden Week and there will be a special deal for lift fee.

Niseko Village Gondola will operate especially during Golden Week. The eight minute ride will give guests a fantastic view of Mt Yotei and the surrounding snow capped peaks from an altitude of 1000 metres.

Golden Week Rafting Special

Spring rafting is an activity gaining popularity in Niseko. With water levels increasing in the Shiribetsu River, spring rafting can be both fun and challenging for all ages. During Golden Week, enjoy spring rafting with NAC, NOASC while Niseko Hanazono Resort is offering a 30% saving on spring rafting.

Ki Niseko Golden Week Festival
Family having fun on Ride the Rodeo at Ki Niseko.
Ki Niseko is hosting a three day event to celebrate Golden Week. Play traditional festival games such as Superball Sukui and Yo-yo Tsuri where players use a thin paper tool to scoop out out the toy. The game isn't as easy as it seems and requires a lot of patience. The main event will be Ride the Rodeo, where whoever stays the longest on the rodeo will win a half price stay at Ki Niseko. Other prizes include Ki Spa voucher and Ki Niseko goods.

The House of Machines Special
The House of Machines is a bar and motorcycle store which promotes themselves as the house of all things motorcycles, riding, live music, solid cocktails, craft beer, bold coffee and classic apparel. Opening for its first summer season, the venue is doing a Golden Week Special featuring four rock bands from Sapporo.

Cherry Blossom Viewing
With Hokkaido's unique climate, visitors to Niseko will be able to enjoy cherry blossoms in full bloom during golden week, this year. Visit Lake Toya, Makkari Shrine or around Niseko United Resort for some of the best cherry blossom viewing spots!
