Mr Mishima's Shibazakura Garden to Reach Full Bloom
Catch Kutchan Town's impressive shibazakura garden in full bloom in the next two weeks.
Privately owned and managed by Mr Kazuo Mishima, visitors come from all over Hokkaido and further to see fields of shibazakura (pink moss flower) in Kutchan Town. Sweeping the grounds in shades of pink, the garden spreads across a total of 4000m² with an unobstructed view of Mt Yotei.
Over the years, the garden has become one of Kutchan Town's must see sights during late spring.
As the pink moss flowers grow thickly on the ground and has petals resembling the shape of sakura (cherry blossoms), they are called shibazakura which directly translates to lawn-cherry blossoms.
Kindly opening the garden to public, Mr Mishima's garden is free for anyone to visit. However, as it is located in a private residence, there is no parking lot. We recommend using the nearby Wanpaku Square or Asahigaoka Park parking lot.
