Asahikawa Ramen Tozanken
While the origin of ramen is unclear, it is thought by many to have Chinese roots. The dish consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat or sometimes a fish-based broth.
Hokkaido is known to boast some of the best ramen in Japan, with Asahikawa-style ramen one of the most popular.
Asahikawa Ramen Tozanken is an off-shoot of the original ramen shop that brought fame to Asahikawa Ramen. Open only in winter, this shop serves 100% Hokkaido wheat noodles in a smooth and rich soup.
