The Big Freeze
In the blink of an eye Hirafu went from autumn brown to wintery white.
As the sun went down yesterday Hirafu was blanketed by snow. The first flakes reached resort level around 3 pm and kept falling well into the night. Residents awoke to icey streets and covered cars. The forecast is for further sub-zero temperatures and more snow over the weekend.

Snow steadily creeps down the mountain.
Break out your windscreen scrubbers, your rubber mallets, gumboots and beanies. The big freeze has begun.
