The new Niseko Spa: an elegant and tranquil setting created by local Japanese designers.

Dry skin? Be gone. Sore muscles? No longer. Blissful relaxation? Yes, please! The luxurious new beauty destination, Niseko Spa, has just opened its doors to its all new spa space in the heart of Hirafu village.

Located in the fittingly named Haven building, Niseko Spa is the only full service salon now operating in Niseko Hirafu (hooray!) and offers a range of premium beauty services to cater for visitors and locals in the Niseko area.

From an initial idea of offering facials at their popular physiotherapy studio in Hirafu, Niseko Physio, Niseko Spa owners and physiotherapists, Bevan and Vanessa Colless, now proudly provide services that have previously been unavailable to people in Niseko.

It’s taken a short but, intense five months (and the birth of a first child!) for the exciting new beauty hub to come to fruition – a space Bevan believes was missing for visitors to Niseko.

“The spa is great for people that want a rest day from skiing or who aren’t that into skiing and they come here to Niseko to spend time with their family. People can come here and spend three and half hours getting a long massage, a facial, their nails done, and that’s a pretty fun way to spend a day on your holiday I think when you’re not skiing!” says Bevan.

Relax and get your nails done with a beautiful view and massage chair.

Think top to toe when it comes to the range of services at the spa, including hairdressing, manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials and massage.

“We’re been doing lots of massage already, but I’m really excited about the facials and the nails because that’s a bit unique and the nail space is really beautiful to relax in,” says Bevan.

The menu caters to Niseko’s climate with super hydrating treatments to combat dryness, like the ‘Niseko-specific Intensive Hydrating Treatment’ facial.

“The air here in Niseko is really dry. It doesn’t take long for the Niseko air to drain your skin,” explains Bevan.

In The Best Hands: Niseko Spa Manager, Melodie and front of house host, Emma.

With the professional team on board hailing from Japan and all around the world including Ireland, Australia, France and Poland, the team are committed to using only the best products and services for their customers.

Niseko Spa Manager and lead therapist, Melodie Frejaville from France, has spent the past two years working in a high-end resort in New Zealand and is delighted to now deliver her expertise in Niseko.

She is also a huge fan of the exclusive, French product-line, Sothys, used in the salon.

“It’s [Sothys] for all skin types, whether you have dry, sensitive or red skin. It will immediately have an effect on your skin after a treatment. The products work deep within the skin when combined with specific movements on the skin,” explains Melodie.

As for Melodie’s recommended treatment for after skiing, she says you can’t go past hot stone massage.

“Hot stone is very nice because we use warm volcanic rock during the massage. It has a great effect in the nervous system and blood flow and releases the tension in the muscles. Then, finish with a facial treatment,” says Melodie.

Exclusive to salons, being treated to luxurious French products by Sothys.

For hair magic, experience the mastery of hairstylist Yukari Kawasumi, who recently moved to Niseko from Nagoya, where she has spent the past 20 years in a top salon and is now thrilled to be servicing clients in Niseko.

Get the finishing touch with the fine work of nail artist, Hiromi Sato, who has over 15 years’ experience as an artist and teacher in Sapporo.

And, the gents are invited too, with items on the menu designed especially for men like the ‘Mountain Man’ package including a facial, deep tissue massage and manicure.

So, when you’re in Niseko this winter, say goodbye to nasty dry skin and stress, and take a little take out for you with a visit to Niseko Spa. The only problem is, you won’t want to leave!
