Niseko's Newest Restaurant: Sushi Wakatake
Sapporo's renowned sushi restaurant, Sushi Wakatake, is now open in Niseko-Hirafu.
Taste fresh seasonal nigiri sushi and Japanese course meals prepared for you by world-class chefs including Head Chef, Hiroyuki Namekawa, at the newly opened Sushi Wakatake in the heart of Niseko.
Located on the third floor of centrally positioned Odin Place, the modern Japanese-style restaurant hosts 31 seats where diners can enjoy super-fresh and delectable Hokkaido and international seafoods. The delicate produce is all prepared right in front of guests who can witness the incredible techniques of traditional sushi making.
There are three courses available: Mt. Yotei course, Niseko-Annupuri course and Chisenupuri course. A collection of chef-selected sake is also ready to be savoured, as well as shochu and various top-quality wines selected by sommelier can be enjoyed alongside the fresh sushi.
Sushi Wakatake, which originally opened in Sapporo and recently relocating to Niseko, offers guests a new, first-class, Japanese dining experience in the Niseko area, with premium produce in an elegant atmosphere.
Chef Namekawa, originally from Sapporo, started his career 38 years ago, first opening his Sapporo Maruyama restaurant in 2009. After popularity amongst locals and international visitors alike, Namekawa was ready for the next challenge with Sushi Wakatake.
"Niseko is a very unique place and I am looking forward to sharing traditional Japanese cuisine with different people from all around the world here in Niseko," said Namekawa.
From the large windows of the top floor of the building, diners will discover a hidden sanctuary above Hirafu village at Sushi Wakatake. With Niseko's diverse food and drink culture, Sushi Wakatake is sure to deliver an exciting new flavour in town.
